Cinnamon Herbal Delight: Embracing Love, Abundance, & Protection

Updated: Apr 9

Blessings! Thank you for meeting me here in this space.

I invite you to take a nice deep belly breath. Pause for a moment.

Thank you.

In this post, I share one of my favorite herbal recipes, "Cinnamon Herbal Delight", along with some of the metaphysical benefits of this blend. Here I also offer a couple of insights from my healing journey inspired by my herbalism practice and study.

For me, herbalism is a lifelong communion with the many botanical beauties that we call plants. It's a devotion and ongoing spiritual practice that continues to ground me in Love within my Body temple, my Spirit Body, the Earth Mother, and the Cosmos.

I believe that plants are deeply connected to the Source of Life and they have the ability to share this powerful energetic flow with us. I believe that Life is truly precious and we can connect to our power and purpose when we consciously slow down and tune into our Divine Spirit within.

Pouring myself (or a loved one) a cup of "tea" is an important part of daily ritual that opens my inner channels to this conscious state of Being, nourishing me from the inside out...

The intention here is to invite more abundance, love, and protection with 3 ingredients: Cinnamon Sticks, Green Cardamom, and Bay Leaves.

Shall we begin?

ree

Ingredients:

This recipe calls for...

5 Cinnamon Sticks

6 Dried Bay leaves

7 Cardamon pods

Water*

Prayer/Good vibes/Beautiful Intentions

Tools:

2 Qt Crockpot*

or

64oz canteen

Preparation time: 3hrs or more.

Recommendations:

Yes, this is a slow, intentional process.

The longer you steep the herbs, a deeper, more aromatic, and medicinal decoction* will develop.

Also, Cinnamon tends to give off more sweetness the longer it steeps.

Preparation in the evening allows for an amazing herbal experience the next day; preparation in the rising/early day makes for a delightful evening experience and also helps with the digestion process. So I typically steep my herbs for over 6hrs or more.

*It is recommended to use filtered, distilled, or spring water instead of unfiltered tap water whenever possible.

*If you don’t have a small crockpot, you can opt for a stovetop pot!

You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for approximately 48 hours.

Use as many of the ingredients as you'd like!

If you are "on the go," boil some hot water and use a thermos to steep the herbs. Allow the herbs to infuse until you reach the desired depth of flavor and color.

Where do you find these ingredients?

Good question: Presently, I source my ingredients from my local health food stores and international markets and purchase in bulk. Alternatively, many grocery stores also offer these ingredients in smaller quantities.

Let's pause for a second...

If you find yourself with any comments, suggestions/recommendations, questions, or reflections, please feel free to share at the end of this post or email me directly at lightandariee@gmail.com.

Gratitude!

Let's dive in again...

Medicinal & Metaphysical Properties:

ree

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanni), or Korintje, is one of the many species of cinnamon known and commonly used for its anti-inflammatory properties and as a digestive aid, offering relief from bloating and intestinal gas.

Cinnamon can even help mellow out cravings for sugar!

She is a wonderful heart medicine that helps soothe tough emotional experiences.

Metaphysically, cinnamon is great to call in more love, understanding, and abundance into your life.

Are you ready to receive it?

Bay leaf (Laurus nobilis) is a plant of spiritual protection and calmness. Laurus nobilis offers many healing properties such as aiding with intestinal gas and bloating. (Little side note: I found myself drinking Bay Leaf tea in the evenings during my travels in Brazil - very relaxing.)

Green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is beautiful and fragrant, metaphysically representing new beginnings, prosperity, and positivity.

So what is the difference between a "Tea" and "Decoction"?

Tea can be prepared by boiling a small amount of one herb or multiple herbs for a short amount of time.

Decoctions are typically prepared to extract important nutrients from hardy barks and plants (i.e. like the ones in this recipe) for longer periods of time by boiling in water. From an herbalist standpoint, this recipe would fall under the "Decoction" category!

Meditation Instructions:

Set your intentions. And tune in to your heart’s posture.

What do you wish to attract in your mind and heart?

What do you wish to release? Make room. Release to receive.

Set a clear space, ie wash those few dishes and wipe down your kitchen surfaces.

Let’s start fresh, yes?

Place the Cinnamon Sticks in the crockpot.

Speak a prayer of Intention and Gratitude into the Bay Leaves, then place in the crockpot.

Intentionally add the Cardamon Seeds.

Fill the vessel with Water, infusing the water with your Prayers.

Feel free to Pray out loud and share your spoken vibrations with the Water.

Set the temperature on low heat. Allow everything to decoct and turn to Amber Brown.

Carefully ladle into your favorite mug.

Sip slow and enjoy.

Be well.

PEACE. ASE. NAMASTE.
